What is the California lemon law?
California's lemon law, the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, protects buyers and lessees of new and used vehicles still under warranty. If the manufacturer can't repair a substantial defect after a reasonable number of attempts, you may be entitled to a refund (buyback), a replacement vehicle, or cash compensation.
How much does a lemon law attorney cost?
Nothing out of pocket. Under California law, the manufacturer pays your attorney's fees when your case succeeds. We work on contingency, there's no fee unless we win your case.
Does the lemon law cover used cars?
Yes. Used vehicles can qualify if they were sold with a warranty, including a manufacturer's powertrain warranty or a certified pre-owned (CPO) warranty, and the defect arose while coverage was active.
How many repair attempts make my car a lemon?
There's no single magic number, but generally: two or more attempts for a serious safety defect, four or more attempts for the same problem, or 30+ cumulative days out of service can support a claim. We'll evaluate your specific situation for free.
How long do I have to file a claim in California?
The statute of limitations is generally four years, but it's best to act quickly. The sooner you contact us, the stronger your documentation and your case.
